It's that I have semi-willfully eschewed the convenience of home internet service, and thus am less likely to remember to upload anything when I'm busy with stuff at work. EDIT: New scans uploaded (yay Epson, boo Canon)! Also included is an in-progress piece based on some of the ideas I've been doodling.

There it is!
Goodness sir Matthew. I could never imagine removing intertrons from my home.
Wow! Looking forward to more stuff!
You've gotten so good. It's pleasure to look at your work.
gorgeous!
Hi Matthew, what advice would you have for a 16 year old who would love to do the same work as you? I draw all the time, I'm learning how to enhance images and draw digitally, and I'm studying both sciences and art. I want to study zoology as a short university course, just to give me more options and experience. Sorry for giving you my life story but you are an artist whose work inspires me greatly and I would love to know if my current plan of action would get me anywhere? Cheers
Harry, that sounds like an excellent course of action. Drawing all the time is an obvious prerequisite, but it never hurts to learn as much as possible about anything at all. In college I spent a year studying botany, wildlife management, and forestry, in fact, and all of that has informed the work I do. Physical sciences in general are always helpful to artists. Anyone can paint a rock, but if you paint the right kind of rock in the right position, broken and weathered in the right way, then it becomes every bit as important to building a believable image as getting all your muscles tensed correctly or totally nailing the drape of some period-correct fabric. Expanding your visual vocabulary allows you to articulate an image to fit exactly what you want to say.
well stated matt!
Epic illustration, man.
Man, I love that first illustration. Just awesome! There's really nothing better than giant dirigibles cutting into the scene at a compositionally pleasing angle. Very cool Matt.
Hope all is well
